Two trains collided on Wednesday in eastern Bangladesh, killing at least eight people and injuring dozens of others.

The accident happened at Ashuganj station in Brahmanbaria district, about 100 kilometers east of the capital, Dhaka.

Authorities say an Upaban Express train bound for the northeastern city of Sylhet rammed another train that was standing at the station.

The stationary train was bound for the eastern town of Noakhali.
