The Indian army says suspected rebels in India's troubled northeast
blew up an army vehicle Monday, killing a senior officer and his driver.
The army says the attackers remotely detonated a land mine as a military jeep drove through a forestabout 200 kilometers north of the Assam state capital, Gauhati.
No one has claimed responsibility for the attack, but the army says the
area is a stronghold of the separatist National Democratic Front of
Bodoland. The militant group is fighting for an independent homeland
for the Bodo tribe.
