Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh says there is "credible
information" that militants in Pakistan are plotting new attacks on
India.
Mr. Singh told a conference on national security Monday that
cross-border terrorism remains a pervasive threat. The conference
brought together chief ministers from India's states.
India blames Pakistan-based militants for last November's attack on
Mumbai, in which gunmen killed 166 people. Pakistan has arrested five
people in connection to the terror attack, but the Indian government
has accused Islamabad of not moving fast enough to pursue those
responsible.
The Mumbai attacks, among the deadliest in India's history, led to a
suspension of the peace process between India and Pakistan, which was
launched in 2004.
India also accuses Pakistan of arming and training separatist militants in Muslim-majority Kashmir, a charge Islamabad denies.
Muslim separatists in Kashmir have been fighting for independence or a merger with Pakistan since 1989.
Both India and Pakistan claim control of Kashmir, but control separate
parts. The region has been at the heart of the conflict between the two
nations.
