Iraqi Rocket Kills Two US Soldiers, Two Journalists - 2003-04-07

Several US soldiers have been killed in fighting on Monday, and the Red Cross says hospitals in Baghdad are overrun with Iraqi war casualties.

The Red Cross does not say whether the victims are fighters or civilians.

At least two Iraqi civilians died and a dozen were wounded when an apartment block inside the capital was hit. The Associated Press says more than 150 Iraqi fighters were killed in a renewed battle outside Baghdad's airport. No other overall figures for Iraqi casualties were available.

On the coalition side, U-S military officials say two U-S soldiers and two journalists were killed on Monday in an Iraqi rocket attack on a tactical center on the southern outskirts of Baghdad. Fifteen other people were wounded.

Two Marines were reported killed and six U-S soldiers were reported missing following fighting on the outskirts of Baghdad.

Meanwhile, U-S military officials are investigating a reported "friendly fire" incident in northern Iraq Sunday in which a number of Kurdish fighters were killed and wounded.
