Today Bangladesh celebrated the 32nd anniversary of the independence of Bangladesh, earned after a nine-month bloody war against Pakistani occupation army in 1971. Today is a public holiday. Tributes were paid to the Liberation War heroes by placing wreaths at the National Mausoleum at Savar in the morning today. President Iajuddin Ahmed, Prime Minister Khaleda Zia and opposition leader Sheikh Hasina gave separate messages on the occasion.
