Topic: Challenges for the Rohingya in 2020 and Prospects for the New Year 2021 Translation Summary: Zahid Alom, a Rohingya activist told VOA Rohingya Lifeline that COVID-19 pandemic has led to dramatic loss of human life worldwide and has impacted on education, daily life, public health and economy. However, the good news is that by the Grace of Allah the Rohingya are not affected by COVID-19 compared to the rest of the world. Most of the Rohingya youth are getting proper education with scholarship in abroad including in resettlement countries like Malaysia, Sudan and Europe, America, and it is a big achievement in the past 2020. He said the Rohingya leaders must take the necessary steps to protect our people and work on the right path on the platform of strong unity. We will not forget what the Myanmar government did for us, which was called "genocide" and our educated leaders should be vigilant and take necessary steps that will never happen again. Another humble request: Please do not engage in any illegal activity that always disrupts the repatriation process that the Bangladesh government and the international community have been trying to do.I hope that the incoming government of the United States will take a good step towards the Rohingya crisis and work with the Bangladesh government to find a permanent solution, Zahid Alom told VOA Rohingya Lifeline during the interview.
