Guests: Tun Kin President, Burmese Rohingya Organization UK Based in London, United Kingdom Translation Summary: Tun Kin told VOA Rohingya Lifeline that it is not easy for Min Aung Hlaing to be recognized by the international community as the prime minister of Myanmar's caretaker government, as he is the most wanted man and perpetrator of the Rohingya genocide. The whole world knows and understands this very well. There are many cases against him in the ICC, ICJ, and Argentine courts for crimes against humanity. He is seeking international recognition in various ways which is why he is forming a caretaker government, but it may be the most challenging for him. In September, the UN General Assembly will decide whether the NUG government is legitimate, or it will be Min Aung Hlaing's caretaker government. However, the caretaker government has every chance of gaining legitimacy because China and Russia have always been on the military side. But Min Aung Hlaing will not get any support from the international community because there is a lot of economic sanctions against the military. This is not surprising to us, as it is a footstep of the previous army and a policy like the 1990 election. Therefore, we do not trust the Burmese military at all. I don’t think an election will be held in 2023 as Min Aung Hlaing mentioned, if the election is finally held, he will not hand over power to the winning party. The military government will do its utmost to repatriate 1 million Rohingyas from Bangladesh by issuing a National Verification Card (NVC) as it is an international issue and there is a lot of pressure on Myanmar but we, the Rohingyas must be aware because we must repatriate with full citizenship rights and settle at the place of origin. There is no possibility of repatriation under military rule and unforeseen circumstances. That is why we call on the international community and the Bangladesh government to provide more educational opportunities and healthcare for the Rohingya refugees in the camps. The international community must provide more assistance to the Bangladesh government to increase the facilities in the camps. On the other hand, we must continue to lobby internationally for the recognition of the Rohingya genocide case, so that we can get our justice and rights. Meanwhile, I would like to request my fellow Rohingyas to please abide by the rule of law in the host country because the Bangladesh government has given us shelter and the Bangladeshi community has shown us their sympathy, so please do not try to get involved in any injustice and chaos.
