Bangladesh's main opposition party Awami League's USA wing and other human rights groups have demonstrated in front of Bangladesh embassy in Washington. They chanted slogan against BNP-Jamat-e-Islami coalition government and alleged that they were responsible for the killing of Awami League leaders and workers in Bangladesh. They demanded the resignation of the government and handed in a memorandum to Ambassador Hasan Ahmed to give it to Prime Minister Khaleda Zia.
The ambassador,in his comment to VOA, Bangla service, acknowldged the heinous killing and said that the government was doing everything possible to assure that such things do not happen again. Protests have also continued in NY and other US cities.
