US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has called on the Iranian government to take advantage of the diplomatic opportunities being offered. Ms. Rice made the comment on Friday in Berlin after meeting with German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder. He is a staunch opponent of the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq and a proponent of using diplomacy to deal with Iran. Mr. Schroeder said Germany, France and Britain are doing everything they can to find a diplomatic solution to Iran's nuclear program. Earlier today in London, Ms. Rice sought to ease European fears of imminent military action, saying a U.S. attack on Iran is not on the agenda at this point in time. Mr. Schroeder pledged to continue Germany's role in training Iraqi troops and police, and he said his government will not change its contribution to the forces in Afghanistan. Ms. Rice is on an eight-day tour of Europe and the Middle East.
