Twenty -first february or Ekushey, the Language Martyr Day is being observed all over Bangladesh amidst tight security. In the central shaheed minar , President Iajuddin Ahmed, Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, Leader of the Opposition Sheikh Hasina and other national and foreign dignitaries laid floral wreaths at the Shaheed Minar , built in memory of people killed in 1952 while demanding Bangla as one of the National languages of Pakistan. In a two way, our Dhaka reporter Matiur Rahman Chowdhury says that despite the fear of terorism , thousands of people joined the pre-dawn procession for the ekushey .
