A seminar entitled “Polio Free World” was arranged at the American Center in Kolkata. A VOA Fan club meeting was also held at the same time.
The American Consul General George N. Sibley said India is one of the six countries where polio is still prevalent. Bangla Service Chief Iqbal Bahar Choudhury said that the number of polio victims in West Bengal in 1993 was 28 and in 2004 the number of victims was 2.
