Bangladeshi officials say flash floods caused by heavy rains have killed at least five people and washed away hundreds of homes in the northeast of the country. The officials say tens of thousands of people have been marooned in two districts ,Moulvibazar and Habiganj since three rivers overflowed their banks late Tuesday. Floods are an annual occurrence in Bangladesh during the monsoon season, which lasts from June to September. Last year, two-thirds of the country was swamped, leaving millions of people homeless for weeks.
