Foreign Secretary Hemayetuddin, speaking at a press briefing on his arrival at the Zia International Airport said, "The talks were held in a very positive and constructive manner and now both the sides can move forward to resolve differences and further enhance bilateral cooperation." He said that Bangladesh and India had agreed on not allowing each others territory for terrorism or subversive activities against either country. Despite the broadline agreement on many major issues , Bangladesh and India differed on the construction of barbed wire fence at Indo-Bangla border. Mr Hemayetuddin said that Bangladesh has again strongly opposed India’s decision to go ahead with constructing barbed wire fence at the border. Bangladesh thinks that it is a violation of 1975 Border Guidelines under which both the countries agreed not to construct any thing within 150 yards of the border. Bangladesh thinks that if India goes ahead with the construction it would hamper peace and stability in the border.
