India's New Fighters for Airforce

India's indigenously developed first pilotless target aircraft Lakshya was inducted into the IAF squadron on Friday. Nine indigenously upgraded twin-seater deep penetration strike aircraft Jaguar were also handed over to the IAF by Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee at a function at the HAL complex. Lakshya, developed by the Aeronautical Development Establishment, is manufactured by the HAL and is integrated with the indigenous engine. The limited series of Lakshya earlier had French engines. The Jaguars with an upgraded avionics suite were the last of the first batch of 17 delivered for induction into the IAF, which had ordered for 29 upgraded versions.
