India: Militant Training Camps Active in Pakistani Kashmir

India is alleging that Muslim militants are waiting in a large number of camps in Pakistani Kashmir to sneak across a cease-fire line into Indian Kashmir.

India's Defense Minister Pranab Mukherjee told parliament that intelligence reports indicate launching camps in Pakistani Kashmir have been activated to keep militants ready for infiltration.

Mr. Mukherjee's statement comes despite assurances from Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf last week that the "situation is on the mend."

Last month, Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said the "infrastructure of terror" in Pakistani Kashmir remains intact, despite a 20-month-old peace process between the two rivals.

Analysts say Mr. Mukherjee's comments are a sign of India's growing concern about violence in Kashmir. There was no immediate response from Pakistan.
