Iraqi Election Commission Still Counting Crucial Referendum Results

I raq's election commission has reported partial referendum results from 13 of the country's 18 provinces, which show the constitution doing well in 12 provinces. Commission chief Adil al-Lami cautioned on Saturday that all ballots have not been counted from last Saturday's referendum, and results from five provinces have not yet been returned. One heavily Sunni Arab province (Salaheddin) has rejected the charter. But results are still not in from two other largely Sunni provinces (Ninevah and Anbar). If both of those provinces reject the charter, it would fail. Also today, Arab League chief Amr Moussa visited Najaf and met with top Shi'ite authority, Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani. Mr. Moussa said the cleric supports a proposed conference to reconcile Shi'ites, Kurds and Sunni Arabs to be held in Egypt. And the U.S. military says it killed 20 suspected terrorists during raids (Saturday) of safe houses in western Iraq. Also two American military personnel have been killed since Thursday.
