Islamic Extremists  in Bangladesh Kill Two Judges

Outlawed Islamist outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) has struck again, this time killing two senior assistant judges and wounding three people in a suicide bomb attack in Jhalakathi on Monday. Police arrested the bomber, JMB cadre Iftekhar Hasan Al Mamun, 28, who claimed him Mamun Ali, a member of the JMB suicide squad, and seized an unexploded bomb strapped to one of his thighs along with 24 leaflets of the banned organization. Police say the judges were traveling to court (Monday) when an assailant threw a bomb at their car in Jhalakathi district. One judge was killed on the spot and the other died on the way to a local hospital. Home Minister Lutfuzzaman Babar blamed the attacks on the banned Islamic group, Jamaat-ul-Mujahedin, which wants strict Islamic laws for Muslim-majority Bangladesh. The group had sent written threats, saying it will target courts. Several courts in Dhaka suspended proceedings and lawyers held a rally to protest the attack.
