Amitabha Chakrabarti is the Director General of the News Division at Doordarshan television in India. He interviewed President Bush before the President’s Pakistan –India visit.
In the second part of the interview Mr. Chakrabarti spoke to VOA about President Bush’s comments and his experience in interviewing Mr. Bush.
President Bush said that he understands India’s need for energy and the necessity of nuclear power plants. US wants an agreement on a civilian nuclear deal that would allow India to buy nuclear power reactors and fuel from the United States. However, India must agree to open up its civilian nuclear facilities to United Nations inspections.
