Police Fire Tear Gas At Opposition Activists in Dhaka


Police in Bangladesh have fired tear gas at thousands of opposition activists trying to march on the prime minister's office in the capital, Dhaka.

Witnesses say several people were injured when police clashed with protesters in at least four parts of the capital on Wednesday. Police have ordered a 24-hour ban on rallies around Prime Minister Khaleda Zia's office.

Fourteen party alliance led by Awami League are demanding electoral reform. Protesters hurled stones at police. At least 50 to 60 people were injured.
