Dhaka has strongly protested against the provocative statement by a leading Indian opposition politician who asked India to attack Bangladesh to ‘dismantle terrorist camps’.
Following the comments, the Bangladesh foreign ministry on Sunday summoned the Indian deputy high commissioner in Dhaka, S Chakravarti and lodged a strong protest against the provocative statement.
The government of Bangladesh expressed shock and surprise at the comments made by the president of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Rajnath Singh, a foreign ministry spokesman said.
Rajnath Singh, the president of the Indian opposition BJP, on Saturday reportedly said that India should attack Pakistan and Bangladesh to dismantle ‘terrorist centres’ allegedly existing in the two countries.
