The Bangladesh Rifles has started to withdraw its increased manpower from the Amalshid and Uttarkul border areas at Zakiganj in Sylhet from Monday morning following Sunday’s fruitful discussion at the flag meeting between the BDR and BSF officials.
The panic-stricken villagers, who fled their homes on Wednesday night amid heavy firing of bullets and mortars shells by the Indian Border Security Force, have also started to return to their homes from yesterday morning.
About 80 per cent of the villagers have returned, said an official of the 38 BDR battalion of Zakiganj in Sylhet on Monday afternoon.
