The Petrobangla and the Thai Petroleum authority will sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Thursday to start a joint study in offshore areas to explore hydrocarbon in the Bay of Bengal.
The agreement is expected to be signed at the Petrobangla office where Thai Energy Minister Viset Choopiban and Bangladesh's Energy Adviser Mahmudur Rahman will meet. The Thai government-owned exploration and production company or PTTEP in a proposal expressed their intention to explore gas in shallow waters of the Bay under Bangladesh territory.
