After much debacles and deliberations, Prime Minister Khaleda Zia on Thursday called for a dialogue between the secretaries-general of two parties to break the stand-off . The opposition leaders have cautiously reacted to the remarks and questioned the sincerity of the call but in their immediate reaction they did not reject the offer.
They said the government must prove their sincerity by developing a ground for the talks. In asn exclusive interview with VOA Bangla, AL Secretary General Abdul Jalil said that any invitation for political dialogue should come formally.
The Prime Minister has just mentioned it in one of her public meetings. Jalil says we are watching for the consistency in Prime Minister’s speech. In reply to another question regarding US Ambassador’s meeting with Abdul Jalil , he said that they are not opposed to discussions and dialogues. He said that he expects a formal proposal and invitation from the government for discussing their demands for electoral reforms.
