Bomb Kills at Least 31 in Baghdad

Iraqi police say a bomb blast has killed at least 31 people in Baghdad's Sadr City neighborhood.

Officials say at least 24 others were wounded in Saturday's explosion near a kerosene fuel truck in the mainly Shi'ite district. The attack came as Sunni Muslims in Iraq began observing the holy month of Ramadan. Shi'ites are to begin marking the holiday on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Iraqi authorities say they have captured the leader of the militant group Ansar al-Sunnah. That group has claimed responsibility for several bombings and for beheading hostages.

Also, the U.S military says three American soldiers were killed by roadside bombs on Saturday, one in northern Baghdad and two others near the Kirkuk city of Hawija. Officials in Denmark say one Danish soldier was killed and eight others wounded by a roadside bomb on Saturday in the southern Iraqi city of Basra.

Separately, U.S. officials say an American working as a contractor for the State Department was killed in a rocket attack in the southern city of Basra Friday.
