Subroto Roy Chowdhury is an accomplished and internationally acclaimed Sitar player from Kolkata, India.
He played Sitar for the first time to the East European audience in 1972 and thereafter yearly performed in that region. He deserves credit for popularizing sitar in the then
Communist nations of East Europe and he now has a training center in Germany. His many European students are now earning respect as independent professional sitar players.
Subroto was associated with Calcutta Music College. He had solo recitals in all major cities and towns of Europe, America and Asia.
