Nobel Peace Prize winner and pioneer of micro- credit system Dr Mohammad Yunus said here yesterday that he wants to see a poverty-free Bangladesh. Poverty should gradually be a matter of history. Dr Yunus added that he was always an optimistic man and hoped that the country’s journey towards progress and prosperity would continue in the future.
Dr Yunus got a very emotionally charged hearty reception in his home district , Chittagong. He also went to Jobra, a village close to Chittagong University . Dr Yunus was a faculty member in the Department of Economics in Chittagong University and he started his Grameen Project from this Jobra Village. Some of those people who took early loan from his Grameen project felicitated the Nobel Laureate.
