Speakers in the round table discussions on Bangladesh reviewed the present situation and tried to give a legal and pragmatic explanation of the country’s President resuming the responsibility of the Head of an interim caretaker government.
Speakers said that while it has to be seen whether President Iajuddin Ahmed had exhausted all other provisions for making the Chief of a Caretaker government as admitted under the Constitution of Bangladesh , one must also remember that the long gap in an effective administration in Bangladesh could lead to a chaotic situation in Bangladesh.
Dr Asif Nazrul from the Department of Law in Dhaka University and Professor Rashiduzzaman of New Jersey’s Rowan University participated in the tele- conference discussion.
