In this edition of Hello Washington our panelists discussed “Drug Problem Among Youths.” Our guests were Professor S. H. Mahmud and Ms. Jannatul Ferdous.
Dr. S. H. Mahmud is the former Head of the Department of Psychology at University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. He is still teaching there.
Jannatul Ferdous is a professional social worker, working with drug addicts in the Health Care for the Homeless in Baltimore, US.
Many people called in expressing their concerns about drug problems in Bangladesh and other parts of the world. They wanted to know how this worldwide problem can be solved and what can be done to rehabilitate the addicts.
Well known personalities like Dr. Sirajul Islam Choudhury and Kumar Biswajit gave their opinion about the issue.
Veteran intellectual-columnist and former teacher and Professor of English, Dhaka University, Dr Sirajul Islam Choudhury said media should play a greater role and schools curricula should include drug awareness information.
Kumar Biswajit, a popular singer in Bangladesh is very vocal against drug abuse.
