Higher Secondary Examination in the Indian state of West Bengal is scheduled to start from next Tuesday.
Officials have noted that despite a significant rise in the number of Examinees just last year , the number of examinees have declined sharply. They say , there has been a fall of about 12% in the number of examinee.
Education minister in the state says that the number increased last year because it was the last chance for the examinees under the old syllabus to take their exams. Some other experts do not share this opinion. They feel that the reason lies in the socio-economic factors or this could be the reason that respective colleges are very strict in sending their examinees to take exam while they might not be adequately prepared.
