More former Ministers and Officials held in Bangladesh


In Bangladesh the army-led joint forces detained six more former ministers, lawmakers, ward commissioners and bureaucrat, who were among the 50 listed by the Anti-Corruption Commission of having suspected links with corruption, in Dhaka and Sylhet on Sunday.
With the new arrest, the law enforcers have detained 30 such people till Sunday.

Former public works minister of the BNP-led government Mirza Abbas, former BNP lawmaker Hafiz Ibrahim, former civil aviation and tourism minister of the Awami League government Engineer Mosharraf Hossain, former Power Division secretary ANH Akter Hossain, and Dhaka ward commissioner Abdul Quaiyum, also a BNP leader, were arrested in Dhaka when they came out of the commission office after submitting their wealth statement on the last day of the scheduled 72 hours.

The Sylhet city BNP president, Ariful Haque Chowdhury, also a city ward commissioner, was detained at his house in Sylhet early Sunday.
Former BNP lawmaker Muhammad Giasuddin was sent to jail on a 30-day detention when he surrendered in a magistrate court in Narayanganj on Sunday.
