Railway departments of both the countries have got green signals for start preparing for Indo-Bangladesh train service which is scheduled to run between Kolkata and Joydebpur in Dhaka . Railway lines of about one and a half kilometers are being repaired.
The train is expected to run in about three months’ time. India and Bangladesh (erstwhile East Pakistan) had railway links till the Indo- Pakistan war in 1965.
Although a bus service has been established between India and Bangladesh since a decade , no steps were taken to run trains across the border until recently.
