Bangladesh Army Chief Pledges to Root Out Corrupt Politicians

Bangladesh's army chief has pledged to continue to pursue corrupt politicians and terrorists to help the country move forward.

In a speech Tuesday at a reunion for independence war veterans, General Lieutenant-General Moeen U. Ahmed said the time has come to fight injustice, terrorism and corruption.

Bangladesh's interim government has launched a widespread crackdown on corruption, detaining more than 100 top politicians on charges of graft, including the son of a former prime minister.

During his speech in Dhaka, General Ahmed also said throughout the country's 36 years of independence, politicians have given nothing good to Bangladesh.

Matiur Rahman Choudhury has more on the story.
