A seminar on Women in Budget was recently held in Dhaka. Professor Abul Barakat of the Department of Economics in Dhaka university presented a paper in the seminar.
In an exclusive interview with VOA Bangla Service , Professor Barakat said that until now women related issues have not been reflected in the budget of the country.
The issues involve women’s health particularly during tuberculosis and pregnancy, girl’s participation in the secondary school education, women in sports and violence against women. He said that in treating even the tuberculosis patient a clear gender disparity is noticed.
