Dr Kamal Hossain, a leading lawyer and the Gono Forum leader has urged political parties to feel the nerve of the common people of Bangladesh and go ahead with reforming their parties.
In an exclusive interview with VOA Bangla’s Dhaka stringer Amir Khasru, Mr Hossain compared Bangladesh with a patient and said, the recent statement by the fifteen US Senators on Bangladesh can be seen as a prescription for the country.
Bangladesh is going through a process and the goal is an effective parliament, he says. The political parties should reform, and the cases against the most corrupt people should be quickened, he adds.
With regard to the two former prime ministers, he says, whether they have been asked to leave the country by anyone or not, that is a question only they can answer themselves.
Dr Hossain says the people of Bangladesh want politics to be free from black money and intimidation and they are now united in this resolve.
