Ashna Kibria has recently graduated from University of Virginia with majors in Biology and South Asian Studies. Although she intends to study Medical Science, she is equally interested in South Asian affairs both due to her academic background and also due to her association with South
Asian Leadership Society.
While in the University Ashna was the Vice President of the South Asian Leadership Society (SALS). SALS is involved in raising awareness of issues that plague South Asians and South Asian Americans. They have done events about AIDS in India and held a fundraiser for the Bangladesh Acid Survivors Foundation besides doing a number of other programs.
Ashna is taking a break from her study for a couple of years and she would like to do her discipline-related jobs. In her interview with VOA Bangla Service Ashna talks about the privilege of taking such breaks and says that such job experiences are always helpful in academic pursuits too.
