The faction which is now being widely known as the ‘Group of the Reformists’ in Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) held a meeting on Saturday.
Abdul Mannan Bhuiyan, the expelled Secretary General of the party severely criticized some of the party leaders and declined to accept the expulsions of some BNP members including himself. More than one hundred members from BNP joined the meeting.
BNP Secretary General Khandaker Delwar Hossain termed the meeting of its faction led by expelled secretary general Abdul Mannan Bhuiyan an illegal activity. He said to newsmen that the call for these types of meeting without permission from the party’s chairperson involving party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) members and former lawmakers is a violation of the party constitution .
