In west Bengal the floods had left train services and road communication disrupted across the districts. There was chaos and uncertainty at the Howrah Railway Station when a number of trains were either cancelled or indefinitely delayed in the aftermath of the torrential downpour that lashed the city on Monday.
Heavy rains also caused a signal failure. Waterlogging on the railway tracks also prevented trains from running. Several trains had to be diverted to Sealdah, while some others originated from Kharagpur and other stations. Trains in the Bongaon and Dankuni lines were also affected due to landslides.
