A VOA Veteran writes Bengali Poems & Plays on Sitar


Iqbal Ahmed, the former Head of Bangla Service had been with VOA Bangla Service for thirty five years retiring in 1994.A veteran broadcaster who was imbibed with poetic zeal has now found time and inspiration from within to write Bengali poems and also to play Sitar.

His poetic mind is mingled with the rhythmic sounds of Sitar and perhaps, his talent has now found its way during his leisure when he is no longer bothered by the professional datelines, and indeed deadlines, of broadcast journalism.

Iqbal Ahmed started writing poems nearly half a century ago and he was inspired by Poet Shamsur Rahman . Iqbal has also composed some English songs which were sung by famous country singers from Nashville, the heartland of country music.

In this program Iqbal Ahmed talks about his poetic zeal and his love from rhyme and rhythm , in poems and music.
