Detained former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia on Tuesday served a legal notice to the Election Commission asking it to withdraw, rescind or cancel within 48 hours its letter inviting Major (retired) Hafizuddin Ahmed of BNP for electoral reform talks.
The notice served through Khaleda's lawyer said that if the Election Commission fails to do so, appropriate legal actions would be taken.
The Election Commission on October 5 issued a letter inviting Hafizuddin as BNP representative for the November 22 dialogue with it on electoral reforms. Khaleda's lawyer barrister Mohammad Nawshad Zamir served the notice. He spoke to Voice of America about the notice.
