The British High Commissioner to India, Richard Stagg in a meeting with Buddhadev Bhattacharjee discussed the possibility of the British investment in West Bengal. While answering questions on the political situation in West Bengal Mr Stagg said it would not affect British investment in the Indian state.
This was also reiterated in a press statement issued in Kolkata by the British Deputy High Commission. The statement said that the United Kingdom believes that India’s international role will go from strength to strength. It has long supported India’s candidature for a permanent seat in the U.N. Security Council.
It wants to work with India to address some of the major challenges both face, whether in Afghanistan or Myanmar, based on the shared commitment to democracy and human rights.
