Dhaka University Teachers wear Black Badges to Protest Detention of their Colleagues

Dhaka University teachers wore black badges on the campus on Sunday in protest at the detention of their colleagues and students over the August 20–22 campus protests.
The teachers on Sunday went to classes wearing black badges to push for the release of the teachers and students by Wednesday. Some students also wore black badges.
They also protested against the imprisonment of four teachers of Rajshahi University on charge of violating the Emergency Powers Rules and instigating the protests that flared off the protests at Dhaka University.

The Dhaka University Teachers’ Association at an emergency general meeting at the university club on Sunday night, meanwhile, decided to suspend the protest programmes it took up on Friday for two weeks on government assurance that their demands would be met by the time.

Fresh protest program will be announced if the teachers and students are not released by the time, DUTA Acting President said.
