Bangladesh's Supreme Court will hear an appeal of a lower court ruling that declared former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's corruption trial unlawful.
A hearing was set for Thursday but has instead been postponed to Sunday.
Bangladesh's caretaker government filed the appeal Wednesday after the country's High Court ruled Ms. Hasina's trial was illegal because it was being held under emergency rule.
Analysts say if the High Court ruling is upheld, it could put into doubt the trials of more than 150 former leaders rounded up on corruption charges by the military-backed interim government.
Ms. Hasina , a leader of the Awami League is accused of extorting more than 400-thousand dollars during her time as prime minister, between 1996 and 2001. She faces up to 14 years in prison if convicted.
Another former prime minister, Khaleda Zia, is also being detained on corruption charges.
Bangladesh has been ruled by a military-backed interim government which took over in January of 2007 and declared a state of emergency. The government has promised to hold elections before the end of the year to help the nation transition to democracy.
