A consignment of 42 museum pieces of Bangladesh returned home Saturday morning, 85 days after they were sent for a display at the Guimet Museum in Paris on December 1, 2007.
An Air France cargo flight carrying the 42 artefacts, packed in 10 cartons, landed at Zia International Airport at around 6:15am amid tight security measures put in place by the Rapid Action Battalion, the police and intelligence agencies.
An 18-member high-powered committee of the officials of the cultural ministry, National Museum, foreign affairs ministry and the French embassy in Dhaka, led by the cultural affairs adviser, Rasheda K Chowdhury, received the museum pieces at the airport at around 7:00am.
