Food and disaster management adviser AMM Shawkat Ali admitted Thursday that the country was exposed to a ‘hidden hunger,’ but claimed the prevailing food shortage could not be labelled as ‘silent famine.’
In a press briefing at the ministry, he said that the situation now prevailing in the country can be called hidden hunger, which was seen also in the past.
He added that the government has taken up comprehensive safety-net and rural employment programs to face the situation.
