While the reformists in the BNP have been invited to join a discussion with Bangladesh Election Commission , the mainstream (pro-Khaleda) BNP leaders have said that this dialogue is meaningless. Pro-Khaleda faction claims that there cannot be any dialogue without the participation of the mainstream BNP.
But the Acting Secretary General of BNP's reformist group Hafiz Uddin Ahmed
expressed the hope that the two groups of BNP will together join the
dialogue with Election Commission.
He said that for an election free from money and muscle and trade-in nominations they will place suggestions to the election commission for bringing in reforms. Last year, in a meeting at M Saifur Rahman’s house the reformists came into existence.
