Gano Forum President for a Consesus Government after the Election

Gano Forum President Dr Kamal Hossain today suggested establishment of a government of national consensus after the general elections following the model of South Africa’s anti-apartheid leader Nelson Mandela.

Dr Kamal placed a package of proposals including the post-election government of national consensus and lifting of the state of emergency during dialogue with the caretaker government led by Chief Adviser Fakhruddin Ahmed at the latter’s office.

Dr Kamal said they want that the winning parties after the elections would form a government of national consensus on the basis of consultations to introduce healthy politics and good governance in the country. Emphasizing on holding the general elections in the third week of December, he said the chief adviser’s commitment made through his address to the nation should be regarded as “a firm national commitment” and hoped the chief adviser would keep his commitment.
