World Bank Official says Bangladesh should have Election by December

Praful C Patel, one of the vice-presidents of the World Bank, who has overseen Bangladesh and other South Asian countries in the last five years, further cautioned that Bangladesh’s state of governance, investment climate and economic development would continue to be adversely affected if the elections were not held in a manner acceptable to all concerned.

Patel also met the chief adviser, Fakhruddin Ahmed, and other advisers to the interim government, and discussed wide-ranging issues including governance and reform of the economic policy.

He, however, expressed his optimism about holding the general elections in December as per the roadmap, referring to his talks with all the concerned people, including army chief General Moeen U Ahmed earlier in the day.
