Dr Syed Akhter Mahmood is an economist with the
World Bank Group, currently working with the International Finance Corporation
(IFC), the private sector arm of the World Bank Group. Presently he is working
as a senior program manager of a new IFC facility in Bangladesh called the Bangladesh Investment Climate Fund. The purpose is to
create a good climate in Bangladesh for investors.
In an exclusive interview with VOA Bangla Service, Dr Mahmood says that
they are working with the government and the private sector. They are helping
the Government make effective a Better Business Forum with representatives
from government and private sector and are also working with the Regulatory
Reform Commission. He said that the government is committed to improving the
investment climate and the Chief Advisor of the interim government himself
presides over the Better Business Forum meetings.
