Explosion Kills 11 at Northern Pakistan Mosque

Pakistani officials say an explosion has killed at least 11 people and wounded more than 35 others at a mosque in northern Pakistan.

Police say the mosque was filled with worshippers gathered today on Wednesday for late night prayers for the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

Further details on the blast were not immediately available. In other news, Pakistani tribal leaders say at least one high-level al-Qaida operative was killed in Monday's suspected U.S. air strike in northwestern Pakistan.

Tribal leaders say four Arab militants, including one known as Abu Haris, died in the attack in the North Waziristan tribal region. They say Abu Haris, an Egyptian, lived in Pakistan for decades and had become al-Qaida's top coordinator in the North West Frontier Province.

The United States has not confirmed carrying out the strike.
