Bangladesh sat with India in Dhaka on Monday at a three-day meeting after a break of 28
years to resolve maritime boundary disputes with neighbors and to lay its claim
to the United Nations by the stipulated time of 2011.
Once the issue of delimitation
of maritime boundary is resolved with its next-door neighbors India and Burma, Bangladesh can go
for offshore oil and gas exploration.
Bangladesh resumed
its maritime boundary talks with Burma in
January.
Additional foreign secretary MAK Mahmood lead the 15-member Bangladesh delegation while rear admiral BR Rao lead the seven-member Indian delegation in the talks, held at the UNCLOS building of the foreign ministry.
